Trends You Need To Know For Your New Fall Look
Bring on the warm colours, the jackets, the layers and cute ankle booties because fall fashion season is here! Soon you’ll be oo-ing and ah-ing at so many structured coats, accessories and cozy fabrics that you might start to get dizzy. That’s why when it comes to making smart fashion decisions, you need to slow down and do your research first. We suggest finding pieces that are not only on-trend, but are items you will actually wear more than once too- because buying on impulse is never recommended… We’ve gathered some of our favourite wearable trends from this year’s fall runways to help you plan a killer wardrobe and a fabulous new autumn look.
Turtlenecks Under Dresses
So glad to see the turtleneck making a comeback! This trend is easy for any body type to pull off and it allows you to show off your slinky low cut dresses or slips in places you never thought you could before, with full coverage! Be sure to pick a dress with a looser fit in a solid colour or a subtle print.
Dusty Pink & Yellow
You would think that these colours belong to within the realms of spring but in fall 2016, dusty pink and even hot mustard yellows are the colour combos of the season and are done in hues with an awesomely autumn feel. Keep the cheery, energetic yellows to your layers underneath (turtlenecks, neck scarves) and soft, dewy pink on the outer layers (coats, trousers, skirts).

You don’t have to be over the top when wearing ruffles. If you’re new to this look, the simpler the better, so find an item that has a limited amount of layered pieces. If you go too high-fashion with this trend, you might see a flamingo dancer instead of a subtly sexy silhouette in the mirror.
We’ve been seeing fluffy sheepskin coats on the fall runways for a few years now and this year is no exception. You can sport this now-chic coat from black, to grey, to tan (our personal fave). Not only is a shearling coat warm and cozy, it’s a timeless fashion investment. Want to dress it up? Go with a full-length coat.
Metallic pleated skirts
These look great paired with a loose round neck t-shirt and adds some shiny metallic fun to your look. This item has been creeping up throughout the last few seasons, taking this typically conservative skirt to a versatile statement piece.
Shoulder cut outs
One of our favourite trends so far is the shoulder cut outs found on tunics and blouses. These edgy cut outs are easy to pull off and give you that sensual/sweet off-the-shoulder look without having to go all the way. Your shoulders should obviously be the focus, so keep your hair, makeup and jewellery simple and subdued.
Metal, ribbon, leather, velvet or lace… we love them all. Ever since the 90’s, we’ve been dying for this statement trend to come back, and it sure did. We’ve been obsessed with this sexy, close fitting necklace since the spring and you can them just about everywhere. Looking for extra style points? Find a unique vintage piece that no one else will have or try to DIY.
